Day 2 - Connor

One thing that was very different for me was seeing Chinatown. It really was a little bit of China in the middle of NYC. All of the signs were in Chinese, and not all of them had an English translation. Almost everybody I heard was speaking Chinese, not English. For all I know, some of them might not even be able to speak English. In the market stalls, there were fruits I had never seen or heard of before. I tried one of them, although I'm not sure what it was called. It looked sort of like a sea urchin, but inside was a white, moist edible part that tasted like peach around a hard seed.  In the end, it is amazing that a place like Chinatown, which is almost like a country in itself, could form in a completely different country from where its culture and people originated.
